After it had already been hinted at on social media in recent weeks, Eastalent-Racing from Austria officially announced today that the team has registered for the International GT Open Series. In addition, racing team owner Peter Reicher told us: “We deliberately decided on the GT Open. On the one hand, we find the international tracks worthy of a GT3 car, and on the other hand, we have appreciated the professionalism of the series for years. In addition, we can use our truck to reach all the circuits in the series.

What other plans are still in the Austrian quiver? “This season we are using two Audi R8 LMS Evo II cars. One car will compete in the International GT Open, while we would like to use the second car in the NLS. Further entries are also possible in the Creventic series as well as in the GTC. We cannot yet make any definitive statements about the driver pairings, because not everything is set in stone yet.”

The kick-off for the seven race weekends in the International GT Open will take place from 28 to 30 April at the Portuguese race track in Portimão, before moving on from 26 to 28 May to the Ardennes night race at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. From 16 to 18 June, the Hungaroring in Hungary awaits. At the height of summer, from 21 to 23 July, the series heads to southern France, to Paul Ricard. The Austrians’ home race will be held from 8 to 10 September at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The final two rounds will take place from 22 to 24 September at the Italian circuit of Monza, with the season finale scheduled from 20 to 22 October in Spain.
